Re: noble and nolan

Now I've heard it all......form is temporary class is permanent .
A very true statement, however for Mark Noble you could say his form has been ver temporary, in fact non existent but, class is permanent and Mark Noble do not go together in the same sentence!

He is a bang average footballer. Somewhere there is a thread about Amalfitano.....how can a player of his quality keep getting overlooked by Both Nolan and Noble?
Sorry I just don't get it anymore with BFS. He's signed his own demise with some of his team selections since Christmas onwards.

As for Noble, I'd love to have his limited footballing ability and have the comfort of a five year contract. For two very shrewd businessmen G&S have this time lost the plot. Total madness.

First off, i like noble as a bloke. Proper decent.

But in my opinion is very average, and if it wernt for the fact hes a local lad would be slaugherted by most.

His monopoly from corners and free kicks...and the return saysit all for me.

Very average player at premiership level.

Re: noble and nolan
Nolan
Average Player , who is a good leader and has done a good job as captain of West Ham.
Has scored an above average number of goals for a midfielder, and has a great rapport with our Number 1 striker (when he is on the field).
Has slowed down in recent seasons and should not be starting in the Prem any more - unlikely to score too many more goals - lets hope he gets to 100 and then retires.

Noble
When he is playing well, he is the heartbeat of the team - creative, good passer of the ball and has great foresight for attacking moves. He has not had too many good days lately - seems off the pace, is hurried in possession, gives to many passes away in dangerous positions, and is still the player most likely to concede a penalty with a patented reckless challenge in the box.
Overall, he has been a great servant to the club, and with the introduction of a few faster, ball-winning midfield players, Noble should be able to return to his better ways, on his better days.

In Summary, Nolan was good is not anymore. Noble has been very good, and with better supporting cast can be again. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Re: noble and nolan
Noble and nolan were the midfield dynamos in the championship, in which we scraped through via the playoffs.

The fact they are still prominent 3 yrs later is taking the piss.

Think Sam told them all to stop tackling weeks ago so we make Europe on the Fair Play!

Noble at least tries each game. You never see him jogging back when we lose possession. Ok you do see him jogging but that's him going at full pelt!!

What I can't understand is that Noble is a safe player. Most of his passes over 10/20 yards are safe whereas Song tries more risky passes so why Sam didn't try them the other way around is beyond me. Noble with the safe pass to the CM strata and then Song can try something risky with the security that he is trying it in a forward area where it might create something or at the very worst he gives it away up field. Plus Song has the legs for CM, Noble doesn't.

Re: noble and nolan
For starters, Nolan is past it and don't in any way think I warrant his selection.

They're not the only two players who are playing shit at the moment. Downing, Jarvis, Jenkinson, Song just to name a few. Even Cresswell's form has slipped.

The 'on the beach' mentality got through from Cuntadyce to the players around 12:45 Boxing Day last year. Since then, they've been playing in flip flops.

However, Noble is actually a very good, clever player that you need to have a good understanding of the game to see, and in a team that has good players he would be even better, granted he's been shit recently but so have the other 10 wankers (aside from GK) and at the start of the season I thought he was stand-out.

I don't, and there are probably others too. But trying to defend him on here has just become too gruelling to bother. And it's not as if I think he's a world-beater either.

Re: noble and nolan
I think everyone agrees that Nolan is dogshit.

But I certainly don't need a load of stats to see that noble is an average midfielder who we should be looking to improve on.

Re: noble and nolan
Someone within the game? I'll take that.

I'll leave the football oracles alone to continue to slaughter 2 out the last 3 winner of the HOTY award, and ignore attacking midfield visionary Nolan.

Re: noble and nolan
You sound like Allardyce Ron.

i-Ron 7:21 Mon Apr 27
Re: noble and nolan
Key passes per game.

Mark Noble ranked 38th in the premiership which includes, wingers, attacking midfielders, free kick takers etc.

i-Ron 7:19 Mon Apr 27
Re: noble and nolan
Defensive midfielders top Assists

Ramires 4
Noble 3

So he's actually 2nd in the premiership for deep lying defensive midfield assists.

Even if you argued Song has played deep and Noble has moved up slightly from protecting the back 4, he's still right up there behind Henderson and Herrera.

So all this, lacks the ability to assist, it's actually a load of bollox isn't it? Because hardly any deep lying midfielders regularly assist.

And you reckon I need to watch more games? Pah!

collyrob 7:17 Mon Apr 27
Re: noble and nolan
Noble isn't even quality on the ball.

Distinctly average, and costs us a lot of goals with sloppy tackling.

i-Ron 7:02 Mon Apr 27
Re: noble and nolan
Quality on the ball is everything. Hence why you 4/5 areas that is virtually in complete agreement with me, but in an attempt to disagree? Rather odd.

I'd have a bloke who is quality on the ball over a bloke who runs quickly all day long.

Also, as I already put on here. Nolan attempts more sideways passes and has worse passing stats regularly but somehow isn't the one getting singled out, when he's in a more vital role for scoring and producing goals?

Noble is absolutely fine, hence why he's Hammer Of The Year quite a lot under Allardyce..anyone blaming him for not producing goals and lacking vision are the ones that need more football down them. You rarely get a deep lying midfielder producing goals. If you do then you're a legend for Italy and Spain like Xavi or Pirlo.

Oddly enough we had a deep lying passer of the ball in Carrick, and all I remember on WHO was that he doesn't put in enough tackles...and was over rated. Funny that.

Quite right Russ. He is a bit limited but he's a decent lad and a trier...

i-Ron 5:02 Mon Apr 27

That's the only thing keeping him from being world class/international class for me. Just lacks that bit of vision.

But what about these other issues:

He lacks pace.
He doesn't score enough goals.
He doesn't make enough goals.
He doesn't make enough key passes.
His deadball technique is bang average.

Don't get me wrong. I like Noble. Have no issue with the guy. Think he does a decent job for us. His form has been poor lately and he needs to address it fucking quickly.

But, seriously, if you think all that Noble lacks is a 'bit of vision' to make him world class then you need to go away and look at world class footballers.

Sarah Ballpalsy 6:10 Mon Apr 27
Re: noble and nolan
My big issue with Noble is that he slows the play down too much.

But he is an Allardyce player, it's why he picks him so often.

"Noble suits Allardyce sides perfectly."

I agree. There was someone on here the other day who suggested he's not an Allardyce type of player, but it's the complete opposite as far as I'm concerned.
